Encountering Christ in Colossians: The Podcast Reactivated

As promised, we have reactivated the podcast. And we’re starting out with a series of messages I delivered several years ago on Paul’s letter to the Colossians.

The first message gives the historical background, and then it’s off to the races as the curtain is pulled back and Christ is unveiled in Colossians.

Some scholars have rightly called Colossians “the high watermark of Scripture” (along with Ephesians). When you finish the series, I think you’ll agree.

Click here to subscribe via iTunes and other ways to receive all the talks, including all previous episodes.

There is a lot more in store for the podcast in the days ahead. I will not be announcing each new episode, so you’ll want to subscribe.

One last thing:

We’re going to set a new trend for the next 10 days.

I’m asking that no one comment on this post who has commented in May.

So let’s only hear from people who have been silent this entire month (or longer).

The goal here to encourage and completely give the floor to those of you who are mostly silent . . . which is about 95% of my subscribers. :-)

Thanks!

Enjoy the message and have a blessed weekend.

    Hi Frank,

I’ve been searching for a church for the past 15 months or so. I spent the 17 years before that in a church that saw itself as the only true church. I don’t believe that anymore but my experience in that church (which many consider to be a cult) has definitely complicated my spiritual journey.

I greatly enjoyed “The Jesus Manifesto” and am very attracted by the ideas that you have expressed in your blog. I just ordered three of your books on Amazon (Pagan Christianity, Reimagining Church and one other one which I forget) and hope that they can help and encourage me in my desire to know Christ better and better. I’m especially interested in what you have to say about the gospel and how to present it.

    Grace and peace to you.

Hi Frank, I just started listening to this in my car (so about 10 min at a time) and the opening is already very thought provoking. I adapted it for my kids’ bedtime story tonight. As I look at the headlines & stuff that people are worried about in our culture, I think about the Apostle Paul and think, “Man, he would look at our culture like a walk in the park!”

    Thanks for sharing this stuff.

The body we meet with has been “stuck” in Colosians since we started gathering together in Nov. The material cannot be exhausted and the background you presented will make the expression even richer. I’m looking forward to hearing what the other members are hearing/seeing from Jesus when we meet again.

Thanks for making the podcast available.

I listened to this podcast while at work (part-time work at a greenhouse). I realized I had been smiling for a straight hour and my face hurt!

There is nothing more glorious than knowing that all we need to do is hold fast to the Head! And when problems arise in Christian community – we must only renew our grasp on Christ! Such rest!

    Frank –

I love that you are taking time to give the historical background on Colossians. Understanding the history around the message has always helped me not only understand the message, but, it helps me understand how God deals with man by comprehending what was happening when letters like this were written. Thank you for your blog.

I’m anticipating part 2. I think the kind of information presented here is why I liked “The Untold Story…” so much.

Just wondering (maybe I have overlooked where you mentioned it) … is there a print version of these talks that Deaf folks like me could read?

This is my first reply to any blog on the web and I’m glad its yours. I just wish to bless you Brother for your ministry and your willingness to share with us all that the Lord is revealing to you. You have blessed a number of us over here in mid Wales through your books and podcasts, so much so that our walk (ney flick flacks) with Jesus over the past year or two have been mind blowing. Again God bless you.

As part of the silent 95%, I’ll go ahead and speak up to say receiving your daily blog update is one of the highlights of my day. Thanks for your ministry and keep it up!

So glad for new material. I’ve listened to all the others, some more than once. I am also re-reading your “Reimaging Church”. After doing organic church for six months now, I have a deeper appreciation.

Just wanted to say thanks for all that you’ve done. You along with a few other authors, peers and innumerable spiritual encounters has changed my life so much in the past 2 1/2 years (when I fully understood the wrongful actions of my old church…you get the point). I can’t thank you enough. And you’re right, I don’t comment enough… Only reason I did is because you mentioned it. =)

i hope to be able to listen to this

colossians to me is like the gospel of john as it fully unveils the divinity of Christ unashamedly to where one who reads it has no excuse for saying Jesus is not God manifest in the flesh

like i said i hope i get the time to listen to what you have to say about it

I’m 31 and just found your podcast. Amazing stuff! I listen to Chandler and Ravi, but this tops it.

Great intro! Looking forward to hearing the rest. I honestly cannot say “thank you” enough for your ministry. I appreciate what God has done and is doing through you. The intro makes me want to go back and read Untold Story again. :-)

Hi Frank. Have you posted #2 teaching on Colossians? Your teaching has been a wonderful blessing from LORD. We try to listen to at least one teaching a day. Thank You, LORD.
