Still Part of the Christian 40-Club & My Birthday Wish

Today is my birthday. And I’m thankful to God for another year of having the privilege of serving Him on this earth.

I’m still part of what someone has called “The Christian 40-Club” … which includes Derwin Gray, Ed Stetzer, Francis Chan, Donald Miller, Mark Driscoll, Rob Bell, James K.A. Smith and a host of other Christian authors who are in their 40s.

For those wondering how old I am exactly, someone who knows me well recently made the accurate remark that I’m one year younger than Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.

That and a quarter will buy me a piece of bubble gum.

Anyways, I’m thankful for many things. And among them are all of you who read this blog, who stimulate my thinking with your comments, and who encourage me in the uncommon journey we share.

When I started writing books, I had no idea that anyone would care to read what I had to say.

I’m still humbled by this every day. So thank you . . . especially those of you who subscribe to this blog and have taken the time to read my books.

I’m very appreciative.

Even so, someone axed me what I’d like for my birthday. My answer . . .

That all my blog readers would purchase a copy of my new book Jesus: A Theography from Amazon.com or from their local Family Christian or Barnes & Noble this weekend.

I really believe you will be helped by this book. It will provoke you to love Jesus more, to follow Him more passionately, and to love the Bible more and understand it better as well.

Sooo . . . for the both of you who are interested in fulfilling my b-day wish . . .  :-), here are the links for Amazon:

The hardcover on Amazon

The Kindle

The Audiobook – Audio CD

The Audiobook – MP3 CD

Oh, for those of you who are new to the blog, I don’t profit personally from my book sales. Royalties go to help the poor and for ministry expenses.

Incidentally, on the last few Fridays, I’ve been posting my review of various Bible software programs.

So because of this “intermission” kind of post, I’ll be publishing my review of WORDsearch tomorrow.

I’m very excited to have Jesus, A Theography, I read “From Eternity to Here” and your comment in there was that Jesus was in the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and I wished that you would write that book. I’ve seen Him in many places in the “First Book” however I questioned such books as Numbers and some others. I bought the audio book as well as TRIED to buy the ebook and couldn’t download it on my computer, so I bought the book, book! I’m so glad I did. I love holding it in my hands. I have read most of the first chapter and have already experienced everything you listed that would happen in reading it. Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of richness that our Father and His Son has given us. It is like watching TV in HD and color. I remember when it was only black and white. May you be blessed for sharing what He has given to you. Truly we reproduce what He puts in us as we share what He has given us.

PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION…okay, but first happy b-day late and I’m still in the club too at a proud 49!!! Here is my question…I have been out of traditional church for several years now…have read Pagan Christianity and have promised to read ALL your books but have not yet. In my home with me besides my husband and son, are my two daughters, 19 & 17, and my 23 year old daughter in law. I love deep study, my daughters want to go deeper than their Sunday School years, and my daughter-in-law began as a non-believer, and is gently being persuaded by the Truth. What would be a good book of yours to span the 4 of us that we could use to engage in conversation about spritual things? Thanks so much!!!

In answer to your question, I’d have everyone look at the descriptions and sample chapters for “Jesus: A Theography” (which just came out) — “From Eternity to Here” — and “Revise Us Again” – you can see the table of contents and chapter samples on the Discography: http://frankviola.org/2009/12/18/200912181396/

After looking at each one, then make your decision collectively. But I’d recommend one of those three.

    Happy Birthday To You!

I thank God for the gift and call upon your life. Also, remember that your ministry is also touching those of us in Africa. Although I have not been able to buy your books so far because of lack on means to buy online, I will definately get Jesus, A Theography for this particular birthday by God’s grace.

Thank you brother for your obedience to the Lord and for being a model for many of us.

    Happy Birthday to you, Frank.

    1. I am interested in fulfilling your b-day wish … :-)
    2. I am interested in surprising your b-day … A new church will soon be planted based on the book, “Jesus Manifesto”.

Thank you for helping us to make Jesus more visible, and we become less visible.

Hi Frank and happy, happy birthday to you!

This world has definitely been a better place because God chose to gift us with a blessing like you! I am also thankful for the privilege of blessing you back because I continue to subscribe to your very enriching blog. I have been faithfully following and reading it for over a year now. Also, I was one of those pre-buyers of your book “Jesus” in hardcover. You are right, I have never enjoyed knowing and learning about Jesus than I am now. My love for Him has definitely grown deeper and my life in Him is now richly vibrant than ever. I truly appreciate your ministry dear brother. I will continue to lift you up and everything you are and everything you do to our Master and Lord Jesus Christ! Agape always.

JESUS: A THEOGRAPHY arrived at my house a couple days ago! So excited to get started on it. Okay I’ll admit it- I was finishing up Frank Peretti’s latest book, ILLUSION- I am hopelessly in love with fiction and not ashamed to admit it. But your works have been the exception- and I have been blessed.

Have a very blessed birthday and I just need to know-
    Really? Did you say AXED?

  14. Amanda October 12, 2012 at 10:42 am #

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Frank, I am personally very grateful for all you do. I think I can speak for many of my friends as well. The small organic church I’m a part of has benefitted greatly from your work, and Christ has grabbed hold of us as a group in stunning ways through it. I think God for you and your passion for our incredible Lord and His beloved Bride. IHave a fantastic birthday!

I’ll be heading on over to Amazon shortly. This was on my payday to-do list anyway. Thanks for the cheerful reminder!

    Much love and gratitude!

    Amanda

Happy Birthday, Frank. I already have the book. Thanks for pulling all this incredible information into such an understandable and readable text. Your books, blog, and teachings have played a huge part in my spiritual transformation the last several years. May God bless you and the rest of us with many more years of service to Him.

I am loving your new book, I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it. I will be promoting it rigourously. Thanks to you and Len for such a gift to the Body of Christ.

    Blessing,

PS I will be leaving the 40 club next year. Woody Allen says “getting old beats dieing young” ;-)

    Happy Birthday Frank,
And I pray you have many more! I just finished chapter 5, Jesus’ Missing Years in JESUS A Theography. I never really thought deeply about Jesus’ missing years before. I found it to be very encouraging and inspiring to see how much Jesus really identified with us and how He chose not to just go with the flow regardless of His critics or what the outcome. He chose to follow His heart which was always to follow His Father. I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet purchased “JESUS A Theography” to do so. You will not be disappointed. I have the hard copy and after I finish it I will retire it to the shelf of my top best books.
    Happy Birthday!!!
    L.B.
