Start a Book Discussion Group & I’ll Be at Your First Meeting to Kick It Off

One of the most enriching experiences a group of Christians or a church can have is to begin a Book Discussion Group.

Fellowship, a sense of community, mutual encouragement, giving, and learning are all experienced in this context.

It is for this reason that I’ve made sure that all of my books can be purchased at a very low bulk discount.

That said, I’ve decided to do something I’ve never done before.

If you begin a new Book Discussion Group around one of my titles, I will meet with your group by phone to kick off the first meeting.

In that call, I’ll discuss some of the behind-the-scenes of the book, share why I wrote it and some “back story” behind some of the chapters, and then suggest a reading and discussion plan to go through the book.

Just have a cordless phone that includes a speaker setting (which most cordless phones have).

If you have a smart phone, I highly recommend either one of these mobile speakers to plug in.

This offer only applies to brand new Book Discussion Groups.

If you already have a group, then when you’ve finished with the current book you’re going through, select one of my other titles to begin a new group. (It can be the same people, of course.)

Then I’ll meet with your group to kick off the new title.

Interested? If so, there are 4 simple steps to take:

1. Put together your group. It must have at least 5 people that can meet in-person locally.

2. Go to my books page, click on the “Bulk Discounts” button for the title you want and you’ll be taken to the bulk discount page.

3. Purchase the amount of copies so that each person in your group will get the book on discount.

4. Send an email to and let my assistant know the following:

a) the book you selected.

b) the city and state in which your group is located.

c) the date and time (include your time zone) of your first meeting with a phone number.

If you live outside the USA, add that also. We will have to make special arrangement for the call.

I look forward to talking with you and your group!

I’m an ex-youth pastor who has left the modern church a few months ago in search of organic church. My wife and I are currently talking with four other couples about alternative church. All the couples are also from the institutional church. It’s all very new, so we haven’t had a joint meeting yet, but one is being planned. I’ve read all five of your books in the “Rechurch” series. Do you have any suggestions about which book might be a good place to start in order to help us along as we talk about the direction and vision of our new, tiny group?
Also, a call from the author would be kinda cool.

With your particular situation, I’d suggest this order:

God’s Favorite Place on Earth – this gives the vision
The Untold Story of the NT Church
      Pagan Christianity
      Reimagining Church
      From Eternity to Here
Finding Organic Church – especially part 3
      Jesus Manifesto
      Jesus: A Theography
      Revise Us Again

Your group can get my entire library on discount at

    Hi Frank,

I will start a group aroud the french version of Reimagining church (reimaginer l’église).

Could you give us some advices about the organisation of this kind of meeting?

    Three questions:

Does your discipleship course count as a “book” if I purchase the church license?

Will you take and respond to questions?

Can we defer and have you talk to our group after we have completed the book/discipleship course?

    • says

Yes, it does. I will talk to your group by phone at the beginning to kick it off. Then, after you all finish the course, there’s a special page where I communicate with everyone who finished the course via electronic communication. I do that for everyone who finished the course and wants to communicate about it.
