Thanks for the free chapter Frank…your insights reveal why so many Christians working in “the name of the Lord” find themselves frustrated and labeled “radical right.” Jesus and his disciples did not spend their time and energy fighting the “government/establishment” but instead introduced people to the Truth and he drew them…then people were able to be victorious no matter what oppressed them. In modern day the religious movement is often working to push a moral agenda instead of loving people who, once drawn to Christ, will be moved by HIM to live their life victoriously and pleasing no matter what the laws of the land say is acceptable. Daniel didn’t publicly march and protest for the right to pray…he just prayed. We absolutely can vote and live for things that please God and personally oppose things that grieve Him…but we should never be fooled into believing that we live in a “Christian” country…and we should stop being surprised that those outside of Christ live outside of his teachings.

Caberke: My tweet was in reference to the vision/dream that God gave Joseph (not David, thanks John) wherein he would be ruler in Egypt, ruling even over his brothers even. He prematurely shared the vision with his brothers, and went through great difficulty as a result. God fulfilled the vision later in his life.

Nice video. Eight is great! “Truth is a person. And Jesus is His name.” I highlighted a lot in that chapter, but I absolutely loved that comment. I’ve been capitalizing the word Truth for many years now – this struck a heart string with me. I can’t say, write or think the word Truth without seeing Jesus.

Finally starting to understand that. The difference between the tree of good and evil, and the tree of Life (Jesus Christ). A great difference, indeed.
Wow – that chapter was phenomenal, especially the overview of how the tree of knowledge has so infected our present day religion. Really, when you look through the OT, that’s what you see… the people constantly at odds with God (while often claiming to serve Him) because they were rooted or getting their source of life outside of God – the true source. And of course, we haven’t really learned all that much today. That was refreshing.

“I found myself wishing for more chapters by the time I finished”
Not that I felt cheated, but it was such a joy to get some validation, a slight rebuke (“Thank you sir, may I have another?”:) ) and a chuckle as well. It’s not every day you get a rebuke that you’re truly thankful for.

I too have meditated on, studied Tree of Life for 3 decades. Jesus has brought us into the reality of its meaning…in Him, a different life source, a different perspective for everything in life and knowledge. We eat of Him and abide in HIm and we are becoming, and our minds are being renewed
And the key, the great mystery and answer for our world is THE NEW CREATION
I am being taken on a journey by God (I believe) about the new creation. Eating Jesus-tree of life/THE word BEING written on our hearts = becoming (a process), more and more into His image, into true world changing sonship here on earth?
I have begun to read the chapter and it is wonderful stuff. I like reading you as in our much more humble circumstances God has been teaching the same things.
Frank, my taste in Christian authors runs mostly to the out-of-print variety, and Jesus Manifesto was one of only 2 ‘brand new’ books I bought last year. But in my busy life I put it down before getting to Chapter 8.
Meanwhile, some months ago I listened to the audio Living by the Indwelling Life of Christ and it was full of inspiration for me – but I didn’t realize I had a version of it for review in the Jesus Manifesto! So you’ve tied things together pretty well for me here – I’m reading my Chapter 8 and took the time to listen again to the inspired audio just now.
