As I’ve argued before, leadership is influence. Everyone influences, so everyone leads in some degree and in some sphere.
But how powerful of an impact you make as a leader/influencer is based on many factors, and one of them is how much you read.
On that topic, here’s a guest post by Dave Frederick with a gift for you included.

Probably like many of you, I love to read. The perfect bumper sticker for my car is “So many books, so little time.” I read for pleasure and to learn and grow. But the truth is, with all the demands on my time I seldom have time to read all I would like to.
I have found that there are a lot of people like me out there. And that has been especially true of leaders. Many years ago I heard a speaker say “Leaders are readers” and I thought—that’s true—when they have the time! Since then I’ve looked for ways to maximize my reading and learning time.
One way that I discovered was to read summaries—condensed versions of books that give me all the key information in shorter form. That led me to start Leaders Book Summaries—a service for pastors and Christian leaders who want to maximize their reading time.
We take the top books on leadership, management, personal growth and development, and church growth, and boil them down to just 12-15 pages. And then we provide a 2-page summary of that summary!
Read both and you will cover the material twice and maximize your learning.
Some people use the summaries to screen their reading and decide if they want to read the full book; others just read the summaries and get all the information they need that way. Either way, you will get the most out of your reading time, and your learning.
To start the year out strong, we want to give readers of this blog a special offer—pick one of our three most popular summaries, absolutely free, to introduce you to our service:
Good to Great by Jim Collins
Everyone Communicates, Few Connect by John Maxwell
Leading on Empty by Wayne Cordeiro
Just click here and you can get your free summary.
Since we began just four years ago, thousands of leaders have signed up. Many of the leading churches in the country have gotten subscriptions for their whole leadership team. There is no better way to maximize your reading time, and invest in growing your leadership skills. Take a look at the free summaries and see for yourself!
Click here and you can get your summary, free, with no obligation to buy anything, ever. The summary is yours to keep. It’s our way of investing in your growth.
Here’s to starting strong in 2015!
