For the last two years, I’ve had the privilege of spending 3 amazing days with a group of pastors, teachers, and people in itinerant ministry.
The event is called MinistryMind.
I created MinistryMind to encourage and equip those who minister Jesus Christ.
MinistryMind is NOT a conference. It’s a Mastermind group specifically for those who preach and teach God’s Word.
Here are 4 things I’ve learned from these unique gatherings:
1) When people are seriously focused and prepared for a task, God can do remarkable things. Everyone was serious about the event. Each minister was well prepared to present and ask their “hot seat” question. We kept to a tight schedule and everyone was on time for every step.
2) When people in ministry are emptied of their pride, there is harmony and unity. There were no theological beat downs or doctrinal sword fights. No juvenile one-upmanship. And no homicides! In fact, there was no conflict at all. Here was a group of people who left their religious masks at home (something I asked them to do in a pre-event phone call), and we all showed up as empty vessels eager to learn from the Lord and from one another. To behold that kind of spirit among ministers today is about as rare as spotting chicken molars!
3) When people are ready to learn from one another, putting away their fear of the unknown, God can teach them. Before our event, I never met any of the people who attended and neither did any of the others. It was a “blind date” for all of us, so to speak. But as soon as we had our initial “Meet & Greet” dinner together, everyone was put at ease. We all touched a common spirit among us. The Spirit of Jesus.
4) When a diverse group of people share their hearts, there is fullness. Diversity is a sign of fullness, so says 1 Corinthians 12. I was impressed with the diversity in the group. Diverse in age, diverse in background, diverse in ministry, diverse in experience, diverse in personality. But the mix worked like magic.

Again: It’s open to both men and women.

Awesome opportunity for all who attended. I can feel the vibe from here 🙂
Praise God for the times to come.

What an amazing event! Congratulations on a successful concept and execution!
I am curious if you hear anything from participants or applicants about their concern in “competing” against each other when they are from the same regional area. Do you ever run into this attitude from pastors?

The photos bring so much to mind…. I am still unpacking tremendous value from my time with these brothers. I’ve never spent such little time with others and walked away feeling so connected to them.

I agree Nels. I feel like I have known these men for years not just hours! But that speaks to the family and community of God. You are all indeed brothers. I feel as though I could share my heart with any of you. It was a spiritual life changer for me!

Interesting, but I see one hispanic and the rest are all white men. Just an observation.

Be very careful here. Over 250 people signed up to the waiting list. Women were on it as well as all races, including ones you never mentioned. 🙂 But again, as the post stated, the event holds less than 20 people. So those who signed up first attended this year’s event.
There are two more next year. Did you sign up to the waiting list and will you — and/or your pastor — be registering as soon as the doors open for the next one?
Just an observation. 🙂

It’s neat to see Van Morrison in attendance 😉
