We’ve spent several weeks compiling the results of our two surveys in June.
Today, I’m featuring the one-question survey results for Christians in their 20s and 30s.
The 17-question 2015 Blog Reader Survey will be posted next week.
Here are the results of the survey for Christians in their 20s & 30s (the age group which makes up a large portion of this blog audience.)
The question was — “What is the greatest struggle that Christians in their 20s and 30s face today?”
Here were the top 10 answers that were repeated the most:
- We lack mentors and being mentored in the deeper things of God.
- We lack being connected with others who are serious about growing in Christ.
- We struggle with spiritual loneliness and lack of community. We long for connection and deep relationships with serious Christians.
- We lack understanding of the Bible and knowing how to read it with profit.
- We struggle with distractions and being free from the influences of the world.
- We struggle with compromising with the world’s false narratives because of fear of persecution, being labeled haters, bigots, intolerant, closed-minded, idiots, and losing friends.
Btw/ I wrote directly to this problem recently in How to Respond to the World’s Narrative.
- We struggle to find authentic friendships based on knowing Jesus, loving Him and serving Him.
- We struggle with finding our purpose in the world.
- We lack inspiration and motivation and get discouraged by the cares of this life.
- We really don’t know Jesus that well, so we need true discipleship.
After going through the hundreds of responses one-by-one, I was monumentally impressed with the brightness and depth of this audience.
I’ve gone on record saying that the people who subscribe to this blog (the majority audience is 21 to 49) are some of the sharpest Christians on the planet. The survey responses confirmed that.
Now . . . I have great news for all of you.
We just launched a new Mentoring/Connecting Network that addresses all of these 10 struggles and meets the needs that stand at the root of them.
The Network is fast becoming my most valuable contribution to the body of Christ.
To be alerted when registration opens to the Network, be sure to join the Wait List. You’ll find it on the site.
If you have friends who struggle with any of these 10 issues from the survey, send them the link to this post. They won’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

This is excellent — I have shared and will continue to do so. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Hi Frank,
Just want to say how excited I am to read the responses of these young people and the mentoring you have planned for them. It gives me great hope for the future! What an opportunity to grow and mature in Him ..and with others who are like-minded and want to walk the deeper life in Christ.
I must be one of your more mature age (bit over 55) subscribers to your blog : ) I came into this all a bit late nearly 3 yrs ago and have been unlearning so much.. and learning Christ anew. It has been a difficult & lonely, but, amazing journey to learn Christ is All! Wish I could have started learning these things years ago as a younger Christian! Thank you so much for being such a big part of teaching and encouraging me, on the deeper life in Christ. I think you have already been mentoring many, in the deeper things.. But this is a great extension of all you’ve been doing & much needed.

Your posts are really interesting, particularly the survey. Points five and six in the survey are to do with finding one’s place in “the world”, meaning global society, which of course is the key issue. I suspect Christians often feel that they are really struggling in a hostile world. But I’m not sure the news is as bad as they think. I work at a university in Hong Kong and we’ve just done a survey looking at statistics of the place of Christians, atheists, and so on, in a global picture. The results were surprising, in that atheism appears to have peaked, and Christianity is growing rather than falling.

WOW, is right! I am greatly looking forward to this and can’t wait! I hope this will grow into a local community too!
