Countless Christians labor under the idea that life is about working, getting a nice house, raising crumb-snatchers, sending them to college, and having grandchildren. (And of course, going to church and being a “good Christian.”)
After this, they can happily die and go to heaven.
For such souls, everything is built around these values. The wonderful spiritual opportunities they say “no” to are governed by them.
Consequently, God’s Eternal Purpose is not much of a consideration. In fact, many believers have no idea what it is.
The Jesus-followers of Century One were a different breed altogether.
Their main occupation was the pursuit of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of God’s Eternal Purpose in Him. Everything else in life revolved around that pursuit.
Question: Is the heartbeat of God — His Eternal Purpose — a mere supplement to your life? Is it taking a back seat to the values I’ve described above? Or is it the vision, motivation, and purpose that drives your life and governs every decision you make?
While most of the Christian populace today is distracted by the grind of daily life as well as engaging in political and theological beat downs on social media, there’s a growing tribe of God’s people who are aggressively and narrowly focused on the Eternal Purpose.
The Spirit is calling us all to reprioritize our lives in the light of God’s ultimate intention and magnificent obsession. To stand for and declare it to others.
So take heart. You’re not alone!
