Welcome to another Thursday UNFILTERED blog post, the only blog that can whistle with its fingers—especially if it’s holding a whistle.
In one of the chapters of the new book – 48 Laws of Spiritual Power, I mention malignant narcissism.
But what exactly is it?
Here are the four characteristics of malignant narcissists:
- They are egotistical. They have an inflated sense of their own importance. They believe they are more unique and more significant than everyone else. To their minds, no one has accomplished what they have. No one has greater insight. They also have a deep need for excessive attention and admiration.
- They are paranoid. They trust no one and often believe that others are secreting conspiring against them (even when they aren’t).
- They have antisocial tendencies. They can be charming, extroverted, and even witty and likeable, but they are antisocial in the sense that they are extremely dishonest and use others to further their own agendas. (This sometimes manifests itself in spreading false rumors about people they don’t like. Their followers are gaslighted by them and put their brains on hold to spread the false rumors without investigation and the benefit of the doubt.)
- They are sadists. This doesn’t mean that they want to physically hurt others. But they delight in belittling, demeaning, humiliating, and insulting those they are jealous of or feel threatened by. (Sometimes the barbed attacks can hide under the cloak of humor. But the objective is to lower a person in the eyes of others.)
Unfortunately, there are more than a few malignant narcissists in ministry.
In the most recent episode of the CHRIST IS ALL podcast (episode #172), I talk more about King Saul-type leaders during a recent interview.
If you’re one of the few humans on earth who isn’t already subscribed (cough), you can check it out on any podcast app.
