If you are published, or you are seeking to publish a book, or you wish to have an article published in a Christian magazine, then you really want to own Sally Stuart’s Guide to Getting Published and her Christian Market Writer’s Guide 2011.
As far as I’m concerned, both are “must” resources.
Everything you want to know about which publisher to choose, the differences between them, how they operate, what they publish and how many per year, which ones become bestsellers, a listing of agents, a discussion of how to write a query for various publishers, and then a listing of all Christian periodicals, their number of subscribers, how to submit an article, etc. Helpful comparison lists are included also.
If you or someone you know wishes to be published, they should get these books. They are also listed in my Best 100 Christian Books Ever Written list.

P.S. I just remembered something. I tried to order the 2010 version about a week ago from Amazon. Amazon cancelled my order with no explanation.
And it makes me think just how sweet Jesus is to His own. He wanted me to order the 2011 one from you because you are His adored and beloved son and He was thinking of you ~
Sorry to take up more of your time but I thought you might enjoy what He shared with me just now ~
It is a great resource! One can narrow down the publishers to “zero in on” for the book that has been/is being written.
I am about to order the new one for my second book. Thanks for the reminder, Frank! Blessings to you ~
Great! Please order from the page
Excellent publication! A note about this one: After you own it, you can go to the author’s website (Sally Stuart) and sign up to get the book delivered to you annually–without any price increase–by subscription. I’ve had a subscription for years and still pay the price I paid when I signed up, even though the book has increased in selling price.
Also, if you’re interested in getting published in the Christian market, not only is this resource valuable, but also I can’t stress how important it is to attend Christian writer’s conferences. Almost all my “big breaks” have come from conferences, where you can sit across the table from editors of big and little houses and pitch your idea. Plus, you learn FAST exactly how all this works from those in “the biz.” Check ‘em out!
Thanks for this post Frank! I intend to order the book and appreciate your making this known to those of us who are in the dark when it comes to publishing.
Happy to hear it, Katie. Thanks for posting on here also.
